  • Acupuncture is an area of ancient medicine that has been traditionally practised in China and the Far East for millenia. It has in recent years been adopted by the Western world as an ‘alternative’ treatment to medicine.

The body responds to acupuncture and its benefits when it comes to a wide range of common health concerns such as aches and pains caused by osteoarthritis, TMJ pain, headaches, low back pain etc. and also for common health complaints such as an overactive bladder. People turn to acupuncture when they feel their body is out of balance but have no medical diagnosis that could be treated by modern medicine. Some people undergo regular acupuncture because it’s healing to the body and mind.

Acupuncture is popular because it focuses on the patient rather than their illness or condition. Symptoms are seen as part of a deeper issue that needs to be treated rather than focusing on the superficial.

  • Crystal healing is a natural holistic therapy that taps into the energetic power of crystals, which come from the earth and therefore carry healing energies and frequencies. Each crystal has its own unique healing properties which provide emotional, physical and spiritual benefits.

Placing particular crystals on parts of the body or on your chakra points allows healing to naturally take place. During a crystal healing session, the crystals work their magic by beginning to clear blockages and absorbing any stagnated energy from within you, while you lay on the couch and relax.

A crystal healing session can help to improve emotional and psychological wellbeing, alleviating symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression, trauma etc. It also helps to improve physical wellbeing and helps with physical health. Some people like to have crystal healing for the deep relaxation they receive during a treatment and some people have crystal healing for their spiritual growth and healing.

Crystal healing sessions can be combined with reiki.

  • Homeopathy works on the principle that 'like treats like' - that is, a substance which can cause symptoms when taken in large doses can be used in smaller amounts to treat the issue. It has been used worldwide for over 200 years with the aim of stimulating your body's natural healing abilities. Not only does it look at your symptoms, but it takes into account your current state of mind, your lifestyle and your medical history.  It treats the person as a whole and can help with numerous ailments such as asthma, hay fever, allergies, arthritis, migraines and mental health conditions like anxiety and depression. Homeopathy is gentle and suitable for both adults and children alike.

  • Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing that works with the universal life force energy that flows through all of us. Using the palms of the hands or a light touch, blockages in the body are identified and stimulated in order to clear the pathway for energy to flow freely promoting healing. You may experience a variety of sensations during a Reiki treatment such as heat, tingling or pulsing in specific areas. You may also enter a sleep-like meditative state and you will most certainly feel deep relaxation and a release of stress. A single session may be healing enough, or you may benefit from several consecutive sessions taken a few weeks apart.

  • Shiatsu is a physical therapy that supports and strengthens the body’s natural ability to heal and balance itself. It works on the whole person - not just with the physical body, but also with the psychological, emotional and spiritual aspects of being. It originates from Japan and traditional Chinese medicine, with influences from more recent Western therapies. Although shiatsu means ‘finger pressure’ in Japanese, in practice a practitioner uses touch, comfortable pressure and manipulative techniques to adjust the body’s physical structure and balance its energy flow. It is a deeply relaxing experience and regular treatments can alleviate stress and illness and maintain health and well-being.

  • Sports Massage is a deep tissue massage for the manipulation of the soft tissue around the body using various massage techniques.

Sports massage can be broken down into three main areas.

    Pre-Event
This is where the muscles are warmed up which increases blood flow and “fires” up the muscles, this also helps to prevent injuries.

    Post -Event
This is the direct opposite to Pre-Event this is where the muscles are relaxed, this also assists in the removal of lactic acid build up from muscles that have been worked hard.

    Maintenance
This is the most common form of Sports massage and used to maintain the muscles or treat injuries or ailments. This increases blood flow to the area removes adhesions (knots), stretches tight muscles and connective tissue and promotes recovery from injury.

Sports massage can be used to treat a wide range of injuries, some examples that can be treated are:

    Plantar fasciitis
    Rotor Cuff injuries
    Back Pain
    Tennis Elbow
    Golfers Elbow
    Joggers Knee
    General stiffness
    Range of Movement Difficulties.

Many people find massage relaxing and feel “lighter” or “loose” after a treatment has been completed.

  • Thai yoga massage – sometimes described as ‘lazy yoga’ – combines acupressure techniques with assisted stretches for the whole body. The therapist will use their hands, elbows, knees and feet to apply pressure to the whole body, opening the energy or ‘Sen’ lines – which have similarities to the Chinese meridian lines – whilst moving the body rhythmically in and out of stretches. The result is a feeling of both relaxation and rejuvenation and is fantastic for improving mobility, flexibility and general well-being.

Thai massage can be dynamic and strong, or calm and gentle, with lots of variations possible so that it is adaptable to a wide range of client needs and body types.

This form of bodywork is performed on a mattress on the floor with no cream or oils and the client remains fully clothed (yoga or gym clothing is ideal).
